I remember a very long long sentence from Rebecca West’s “The Fountain Overflows” and its effectiveness. I wish I had the book so that I could quote it.
And back in the ‘70s, I think, there was a poster of a long sentence by Proust—words in the high 200s, like the McBride sentence you’re writing about.
I really enjoyed this blog entry.
