I’m so pleased that many of you have been submitting questions at my Questions and Suggestions page. But there are two little problems.
(1) For contractual reasons, I’m not able to answer style and grammar questions. I urge you to send them instead to the Q&A at the Chicago Manual of Style online.
(2) I can reply to you privately only if you leave an e-mail address. Which almost nobody does.
I feel bad that I’m not able to acknowledge your letters because I have no way to reach you. Please consider leaving an e-mail address. I promise it will never appear in the blog. For safety, you can type it into the body of your note instead of in the form.
Thanks so much for your interest.
Yours,
Carol
Oh dear. Now I just want to know how the dead bugs get into the enclosed fixtures!
:) Thanks for the Friday brainworm.

Same way that cats squeeze through tight railing slats. And cats have bones; insects don't!

I think it's a poor question. It's more likely the bugs were alive when they found their way into the enclosed light fixtures.
